World Planning Schools Congress 2026: Exploring Climate Resilience and Adaptive Planning
From 29 June to 3 July 2026, the 6th World Planning Schools Congress (WPSC 2026) brought together more than 1,200 participants from around the world in Helsinki, Espoo and Tampere, Finland.
At this international event, Barbara Mušič from the Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia (UIRS) presented two complementary projects on climate adaptation and resilience in spatial and urban planning:
🔹 Be Ready project (INTERREG Danube Programme) focused on exploring how small-scale interventions can support adaptive planning and urban heat resilience and
🔹 Toward Climate Resilient Settlements in Slovenia (Ministry for Natural resources and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Slovenia) which was focused on national planning guidelines for climate-resilient settlements.
The presentations highlighted the importance of connecting strategic planning, climate adaptation and nature-based solutions to create more resilient and liveable places.
Thank you to the organisers and fellow researchers for the inspiring discussions and exchange of knowledge.
