Going Out for Health 4 focuses on raising awareness, providing information and educating regions and local authorities on the importance of addressing common challenges regarding the opportunities and ways of establishing green spaces for residents’ regular, everyday physical activity. Various topics identified in previous programmes (Going Out for Health 1-3) as being important at regional level will be addressed. The programme will seek to strengthen multisectoral cooperation to improve the conditions and measures for facilitating and promoting physical activity and the health of the population.

In order to provide the most practical and concrete expert support possible in establishing high-quality, equally usable and accessible, as well as appropriately extensive and distributed green spaces in the local environment, the programme’s activities include a series of advisory sessions designed to provide expert support in finding practical solutions to the various problems and challenges at local level and faced in the regions. As part of the programme’s implementation, practical solutions will be developed and guidelines formulated to improve the situation, with the aim of incorporating these guidelines into planning documents at regional level as well. The programme will address issues of inter-municipal importance, such as the provision of green spaces and areas of regional significance; activities will focus on fostering cooperation between neighbouring municipalities and their joint action within the region.
