WAND/RANN

Art Nouveau Ljubljana and World Art Nouveau Day

EU Program / Principal / Funder etc.:
Mestna občina Ljubljana

Project lifespan:
2019 - 2026

About project:

Today, the international Réseau Art Nouveau Network (RANN) brings together 22 European cities with a rich Art Nouveau heritage. Since 2014, the network has been included in the list of Cultural Routes of Council of Europe.

In 2018, Ljubljana-based institutions (City of Ljubljana – MOL, City Museum of Ljubljana – MGML/MM, National Museum of Slovenia – NMS, National Gallery of Slovenia – NG, Museum of Architecture and Design – MAO, Department of Art History at the Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana – FF UL, Urban Planning Institute of the Republic of Slovenia – UIRS, and Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia, Ljubljana Regional Office – ZVKDS) joined forces to establish the local Art Nouveau Ljubljana network. The aim was to collaborate, within their respective fields of expertise, in supporting the activities of the international RANN network and implementing its key objectives at the local level.

Every year, the RANN network celebrates World Art Nouveau Day by inviting partner cities to organise activities that help raise public awareness of the cultural values and European dimension of this heritage, which is so close to us.

More about the international RANN network is available at this link.
